January 2016 Rent Survey – Rents Remain Firm in Antelope
Following what has become a nationwide trend, the cost to rent a home in Antelope is moving up. Driven, at least in part, by an increase in the percentage of households that are choosing to rent instead of buy, rents are are moving up.
It is noteworthy in and of itself that the national rate of home ownership is now at just under 64%, the lowest rate of home ownership in the U.S. since 1967.
Inventory of Homes For Sale in Antelope Way Down Heading into 2016
As we enter 2016, the number of homes for sale in Antelope has fallen significantly – into the mid-50 range. At the same time, talk of an interest rate increase has driven many home buyers to act, fearing an increase in mortgage rates could price them out of the market. Now, buyers are getting an completely unexpected reward – mortgage rates are actually moving down.
The good news for sellers is the combination of lower inventory and a large pool of active buyers has pushed prices upward.
